ABOUT US

Top Stitch Upholstery began in 1983, when it's founder, Joseph M. De Wolf, struck out on his own, using skills of the family trade to start his own upholstery business.  He married Deana in 1992 and in 1995 they moved to Sonoita, Arizona.  They added embroidery to the business in 2001 and later created a mobile unit that went on the road in October 2002.  Times have changed and though the trailer goes to fewer events Deana's embroidery work has become well-known throughout the Southwest, especially among "animal people" and in the Fire/EMS industry.  Deana runs the business full-time and is always up to creating something new and fun.  It's nice when your business is also your hobby.  Joseph has since retired from the upholstery business and is now the Fire Chief of the Sonoita-Elgin Fire District.

Vitara and the rest of the herd are the reason we actually started in the embroidery business.  We found it hard to find English Angora competition in Arizona and started traveling to California.  On a return trip from Northern California we realized just how much money we were spending to show the rabbits and thought it would be wise to think of ways to offset the costs of attending the shows.  It was on that return trip that we discussed the possibility of starting an embroidery business.  Two years later we purchased the machine and then just 2 months later we went to the 2001 American Rabbit Breeders National Convention in San Diego.  Vitara took 1st place colored junior doe.  Along with Vitara's brother also taking 1st place and two second places we were very happy with our placings at nationals.  We returned to Tucson and showed one more time.  We went out with a bang, when Vitara took Best Reserve in Show.  After that show, the business took off and we haven't had the time to keep those rabbits in show coat.  But, we haven't lost our love for them.
